Good communication between people is of great importance in our society today. God’s word gives us valuable insights into how we should speak to and treat one another, and as Christians we should seek to be a blessing to everyone that we come into contact with. Our words are a reflection of what is in our hearts, so we should constantly be filling our hearts and minds with what is best.

We were created for community and relationship, for friendship and emotional connection with others. God is relational and we are created in His image (Genesis 1:26-27). Mutual trust is the foundation for close relationships. Trust is the ability to believe in the good intentions and will of another toward us in a relationship. Being honest is frequently mistaken for authenticity, but it’s more than simply being honest. Being authentic requires courage and humility. It means facing our fear of exposing ourselves as flawed, which may lead to rejection and hurt. But it’s the only way to grow spiritually and emotionally healthy.

1 John 1:7-8

Many Christians seem to have adopted the idea that boundaries are negative. Somehow Christianity has come to define love as having no boundaries.  As a Christian, our source of truth comes from the Word of God. Christians must protect themselves by setting healthy boundaries from those constantly want to argue and speak poorly of others, as our engagement in these conversations can quickly lead to hardness of the heart. We should not feel guilty about distancing ourselves from those that have a negative influence on us.

Proverbs 25:17, 26:4, James 5:12

“You have to keep saying to yourself: “I am being loved by an unconditional, unlimited love and that love allows me to be a free person, center of my own actions and decisions.” The more you can come to realize this, the more you will be able to forgive those who have hurt you and love them in their brokenness. Without a deep feeling of self-respect, you cannot forgive and will always feel anger, resentment, and revenge. The greatest human act is forgiveness: “Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who have sinned against us.” Forgiveness stands in the center of God’s love for us and also in the center of our love for each other.
