Brief Description: Are you looking to grow spiritually while deepening your knowledge and understanding of the Word? Participants in this group will read the books of the bible together in chronological order with weekly meet ups on zoom and in person to recap. The grow group aligns with all the 1U core values.

Growing in Christ

Facilitators:George Fleurimond and Ermide Woods
Open To: New Believers and Explorer's of the Faith. Registration is open to 10 people.
Meeting Schedule: Every 1st and 4th Sabbath at church. This group will begin October 1st.
Brief Description: The group offers opportunities for new Believers and other people who would like to learn more about God and Adventism a safe space to grow and explore the Bible through a non-judgmental lens. This grow group aligns with all the 1U core values.

Family that Plays

Facilitators:Hordet Fullard and Byrna Joseph
Open To: Everyone. There is no registration limit.
Meeting Schedule:Two Saturday nights a month.
Brief Description: This grow group is for people who are looking for some weekend fun. We will plan social events/game nights for anyone hoping to meet new people and grow together through fun and laughter. There may be a cost for certain activities. This grow group aligns with 1U core value two.

Becoming You

Facilitators:Derek White
Open To:This grow group is open to all demographics. Registration is open to 10 - 12 people.
Meeting Schedule: Saturdays, 2 – 4pm, September 30, October 28, November 11, December 2. Participants should plan to attend all meetings, which will be a mix of in-person and zoom.
Brief Description: Who are you? Why are you here? In this Grow Group, we will discover together what God's unique plan is for each of us. Using a variety of tools, we'll explore our past to help better define our present and future to become the disciples we were created to be. This group aligns to 1U core values one and four.

Food, Family, and Football

Facilitators:Shekina Denny
Open To: This grow group is open to all demographics. Registration is open to 10 - 20 people.
Meeting Schedule: Sundays, Sept. 25, Oct. 1, Oct. 8, Nov. 5, Dec. 3
Brief Description: This grow group will foster a sense of community and belonging by providing opportunities for participants to come together to fellowship and watch football games. This group aligns with 1U core values two and four. Some of the meetings will be potluck-style.

Power Thru with Food,
Faith, and Fellowship

Facilitators: First University Elders
Open To: This grow group is open to all demographics. Registration is required for dinner.
Meeting Schedule: 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month in the fellowship hall at First University.
Brief Description: Attend for a mid-week reboot where you can dig into bible study with a community of individuals who are looking to learn more about the bible in such a manner that they can apply biblical principles in their lives daily. Dinner is served and the study of God’s word is worth taking a moment during the middle of the week to grow deeper. This grow group aligns with all five core values of First University.

Cooking with Jesus

Facilitators: David Desamour
Open To: Open to youth. Registration is open to 10 people.
Meeting Schedule: On zoom on the following dates: 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22
Brief Description: This is a youth grow group for those interested in cooking simple meals while discussing how to be good Christians at home and school. Meetings will be held virtually, and participants will be provided with a list of ingredients for each session. This grow group aligns with all the 1U core values.

Blended and Blessed

Facilitators: Beni and Jessica Jombai
Open To: Open to all demographics
Meeting Schedule: This group will meet virtually on Tuesdays at 7:30pm beginning October 17th
Brief Description: This grow group is meant to be a community of individuals and blended families (or potential blended families) that seek to support each other in our trials, rejoice with each other in the victories and partner with each other on the journey of blendedness. In addition to learning from each other, we will explore key takeaways gotten from bible-based teachings explored in Ron Deal's book, The Smart Stepfamily. This grow group aligns with core values one, two, three, four, and five, of First University.
