Worship Team

Worship Team

Responsibilities:

  • Serve on the Church Board.
  • Manage, coordinate, and promote all worship services, special services, and concert series.
  • Oversee worship service, special services, and concert series production dress rehearsals.
  • Assist in training all ministry participants so the church ministries will operate more efficiently and effectively.
  • Calendar the platform participants for worship services.
  • Calendar Prayer and Praise Service participants.
  • Organize and empower the Worship Planning Team (WPT):
  • Arrange for regular meetings with the WPT for ministry-area planning and evaluation.
  • Provide general support for the WPT Coordinators
  • Assist appropriate ministry leaders with ministry planning, as needed.  
  • Manage spending to meet approved budget.
  • Develop a process to integrate interested members into the ministry.
  • Collaborate with the Hospitality Coordinator to ensure that the worship experience aligns with the mission and vision of First University.

Worship Team Roles:



Music Ministry

Responsibilities:

  • The Minister of Music is the primary worship leader for the weekly Sabbath worship services.
  • Member of Worship Planning Team.
  • Provide music for weekly Sabbath worship services
  • Plan music to compliment/support the themes/series planned by Pastoral team
  • Schedule all musical groups/soloists that participate in the worship service (Choirs, Praise Teams, Worship leaders, etc.)
  • Prepare Praise Teams to lead out weekly.
  • Teach music when necessary to choirs and Praise Teams.
  • Work with the Musical Director to provide instrumental music and accompaniment for worship service.
  • Assist in providing musicians, soloists, etc. for special services that occur at First University.
  • Plan small group opportunities for First University attendees.
  • Manage spending to meet approved budget.
  • Serve as the point of contact for musical collaboration with other churches.
  • Ensure that the musical worship experience aligns with the mission and vision of First University.

Technology Ministry

Responsibilities:

  • Serve on the Church Board, as needed.
  • Manage, update regularly, and coordinate all facets of technology, social media, and communication used in churchministry.
  • Develop and train a team to serve in the various areas of technology and communication ministry, with there being a designated leads for communication and social media.
  • Ensure church technology is cutting edge and current.
  • Collaborate with the communications coordinator, as needed, on all communications correspondence.
  • Manage spending to meet approved budget.
  • Plan small group opportunities for First University attendees.
  • Ensure that all technological efforts align with the mission and vision of First University.

Technology Roles:



Coomunications Ministry

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, update regularly, and coordinate all facets of communication (including social media) used in church ministry.
  • Develop and train a team to serve in the various areas of the communication ministry,  
  • Ensure church avenues of communication are cutting edge, easy for members to access, and are current.
  • Manage spending to meet approved budget.
  • Plan small group opportunities for First University attendees.
  • Collaborate with the technology coordinator and church clerk(s) to ensure that communication is timely and accurate.
  • Ensure that all communication efforts align with the mission and vision of First University.

Communications Roles:



Hospitality Ministry

Responsibilities:

  • Serve on Church Board, as needed.
  • Welcome members and guests to the church in a kind and loving manner.
  • Reconnect with and encourage guests on their way out.
  • Be the doorkeepers, controlling appropriate entrance times for the sanctuary during divine worship in an orderly fashion. In carrying out this function the focus is on people.
  • Work with designee to plan quarterly lunches.
  • Distribute material related to the service or meeting, such as bulletins, handouts, etc.
  • Oversees cadre of ushers and responsible for all administrative tasks associated with maintaining an effective hospitable presence.
  • Plan small group opportunities for First University attendees.
  • Collaborate with the Teaching Coordinator for training and leadership development of all individuals on the hospitality team (ushers, 1U Connect, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Facility Operations Coordinator.
  • Collaborate with Worship Coordinator to ensure that the worship experience reflects the mission and vision of First University.

Hospitality Roles:



Grow Group Ministry

Responsibilities:

  • Serve on Church Board.
  • Oversee Grow Group Team to assist with administrative responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with Teaching Coordinator to ensure that Grow Group Leaders are developed and supported.
  • Promote opportunities for small group gatherings amongst ministries and church attendees.
  • Developed an annual ministry budget and manage spending to meet approved budget.
  • Provide coaching, support the Grow Group Leaders, and refer to Pastoral Staff as needed.
  • Plan small group opportunities for First University attendees.
  • In consultation with the Ministry Placement Coordinator, recruit Grow group leaders.
  • Identify volunteers to help train and mentor group leaders.
  • Identify and select group curriculum and other group training materials and tools.
  • Plan and conduct quarterly group leaders training and recognition events.
  • Provide fellowship ideas for leaders to do with their groups to be included in the training.
  • Along with Pastoral Staff and Communications Lead develop a process to record, collect and regularly share and celebrate group stories of life change with the larger church family.
  • Coordinate with the Ministry Placement Team and Grow Groups Team to implement and recruit additional group leaders as  needed to ensure a healthy groups growth rate over time.

Grow Group Roles:



Children's Ministry

Responsibilities:

  • Serve on Church Board, as needed.
  • Chair the children’s ministries committee.
  • Implement the children’s ministry curriculum.
  • To plan and implement a yearly calendar of programs for children that will draw them to Christ and provide for their participation in all church activities.
  • Develop a budget for implementing all programs and activities for children.
  • To serve as an advocate for the interests and needs of children to the:       Church Board—by keep the board members informed of concerns and successes, by reporting the results of the children’s         needs assessment, and by encouraging funding for children’s program.        Pastor—by working together to make the various aspects of church life and worship more child-friendly and meaningful to         children.
  • To maintain communication with parents and leaders of children’s activities, informing them about workshops, conventions, camp meetings, and other resources, and encouraging their growth in understanding children.
  • To work with the pastor in events involving children, such as:       Baby dedication       Baptism       Children’s Story during worship hour
  • Ensure that all programming for children aligns with the mission and vision of First University.

Children's Roles:



Youth Ministry

Responsibilities:

  • Chair the youth ministries committee.
  • Implement the youth ministry curriculum.
  • To plan and implement a yearly calendar of programs for youth that will draw them to Christ and provide for their participation in all church activities.
  • Develop a budget for implementing all programs and activities for youth.
  • To serve as an advocate for the interests and needs of youth to the:       Church Board—by keep the board members informed of concerns and successes, by reporting the results of the youth’s        needs assessment, and by encouraging funding for youth program.       Pastor—by working together to make the various aspects of church life and worship more child-friendly and meaningful to        youth.

Teaching Ministry

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure a quarterly schedule of teaching and learning opportunities for the congregation.
  • Oversee ministry leader development trainings and coordinate all aspects to  ensure successful implementation.
  • Facilitate and coordinate opportunities for spiritual growth and discipleship.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming and nurturing learning environment
  • Plan meetings with teachers and trainers to prepare for quarterly themes of the Sabbath school curriculum and leadership development trainings.
  • Collaborate with Grow Group Coordinator to ensure proper training and preparation for grow group leaders. (getting teaching materials, resources, curriculum, etc.)  
  • Developed an annual ministry budget and manage spending to meet approved budget.
  • Serve on Grow Group Team.
  • Collaborate with Hospitality Coordinator to implement needed trainings for Hospitality Team.
  • Ensure that all teaching, training, and educational efforts align with the mission, vision, and core values of First University.

Teaching Ministry:



Outreach Ministry

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all community service programming and initiatives.
  • Maintain an active connection and community presence, as a representative of First University.
  • Develop meaningful partnership with established community agents.
  • Maintain an active calendar of community service programming and initiatives.
  • Developed an annual ministry budget and manage spending to meet approved budget.
  • Collaborate with the Teaching Coordinator to ensure that all team members are adequately trained and equipped to minister to the community.
  • Ensure that discipleship is the primary focus of all community service programming and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Pastoral Team, Hospitality Coordinator, and Worship Coordinator for all worship services where the community is invited to attend.
  • Ensure that all community service efforts align with the mission, vision, and core values of First University.

OutReach Ministry Roles:



Prayer Ministry

Responsibilities:

  • Pray daily for all aspects of First University including the worship services, ministry leaders, and team members.
  • Oversee schedule for weekly prayer meeting.
  • Effectively plan programming and ministry initiatives about prayer that are relevant, timely, and impactful.
  • Collaborate with the Pastoral Team and Deacons to promote a culture of care amongst the First University congregation.
  • Ensure that all programming and initiatives are aligned to the mission, vision, and core values of First University.

Worship Team Roles:



Elder

Responsibilities:

  • Serve on Church Board.
  • Provide a ministry of care, nurture, and concern for all members of First University to include: visitations, spiritual counsel, and wellness checks.
  • Serve as the administrative leaders for all tasks and responsibilities associated with governance of First University.
  • Serve as the spiritual leaders, in collaboration with the Deacons, to meet the needs of the First University congregation.
  • Collaborate with the Hospitality and Worship Coordinators to ensure that the weekly worship serves are aligned with the mission and vision of First University.
  • Actively participate in all in-reach and outreach ministry efforts.
  • Serve as ministry hub leaders.
  • Ensure that the financial stewardship in effective, maintained, and balanced at all times.
  • Demonstrate a commitment that all decision-making is aligned with the mission, vision, and core values of First University.

Eldership


Deacon

Responsibilities:

  • Serve on Church Board.
  • Assist with all duties listed above for the Pastoral Team.
  • Demonstrate a commitment that all decision-making is aligned with the mission, vision, and core values of First University.  

Deaconship


Church Board

Responsibilities:

  • Possess a willing spirit and mindset to effectively perform the responsibilities of the board.
  • Maintain loyal and faithful commitment as a member of the First University congregation.
  • Demonstrate faithfulness in stewardship responsibilities in terms of time, talent, and financial means.
  • Seek the Lord for divine guidance and courage to make necessary decisions.
  • Possess both ethical and professional in handling the information and decisions shared during board meetings.
  • Put the interests of the church above any personal interest.
  • Make fiscally responsible decisions by reviewing submitted budgets and ensure that all budgets align with the mission, vision, and core values of First University.
  • Align all decision-making with the mission, vision, and core values of First University.
  • Maintain regular attendance of all board meetings.
  • Have leadership abilities to drive the church forward using effective accountability measures (evaluating ministry and leadership effectiveness).
  • Does not actively serve as a ministry leader, unless specified in the respective ministry role.

Worship Team Roles:


Facility Operations

Responsibilities:

  • Serve on the Church Board, upon request.
  • Schedule and oversee the contracting and work of all service personnel relative to facilities operations.
  • Oversee stocking and restocking of facilities prior to and during church-related services.
  • Ensure that the safety officer understands their role and responsibilities.
  • Organize and empower the Facility Operations Team.
  • Arrange for regular meetings with the FOT for ministry-area planning and evaluation.
  • Develop and implement ministries and programs to fulfill the FOT mission.
  • Manage the Facilities Operations Team budget.
  • Provide general support for the FOT team. Build a team of ministers rather than doing the entire ministry.
  • Developed an annual ministry budget and manage spending to meet approved budget.
  • Support the church’s primary services/programs – worship service, prayer meeting, etc.

Vision Champion

Responsibilities:

  • Serve on church board.
  • Appointed by the vision committee.
  • Attend elder’s meetings, as needed.
  • Assist with structuring vision committee meetings.
  • Collaborate with ministry hub leaders (elders) to ensure alignment with the mission, vision, and core values of First University.

Safety Coordinator

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the risk management of the church.
  • Oversee the security of the facility and the safety of the church congregation.
  • Collaborate with the Facility Operations Coordinator.
  • Developed an annual ministry budget and manage spending to meet approved budget.
  • Demonstrate a commitment that all decision-making is aligned with the mission, vision, and core values of First University.  

Safety Coordinator


Financial Management

Responsibilities:

  • Serve on the Church Board.
  • Organize and manage a treasury team.
  • Communicate regularly with the Pastoral Team about the state of the church’s finances.
  • Manage the counting, depositing and providing receipts of all funds given.
  • Provide financial statements for church Board, church Business meetings and any other reports needed.
  • Ensure that all church bills and financial responsibilities are paid.
  • Oversee collection of all ministry budgets and bring to church board for approval.
  • Maintain accurate record-keeping of all financial transactions.
  • Determine allocated funds for each ministry at the start of each calendar year in order to guide ministry planning.
  • Guide all financial decision-making and ensure alignment with the mission, vision, and core values of First University.

Worship Team Roles:



Ministry Placement

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with all ministry coordinators to identity members within the First University congregation to serve on various ministry teams.
  • Collaborate with the Teaching Coordinator and Pastoral Team to assist members in understanding how to use their spiritual gifts to actively contribute to the ministry of First University.
  • Serve as a problem-solver for all ministries needing assistance with recruiting members of their designated ministry teams.
  • Collaborate with all ministry coordinators to ensure that the mission, vision, and core values of First University is represented and aligned with all ministry efforts.

Worship Team Roles:


Administrative Assisstant Team

Responsibilities:

  • Serve on the Church Board.
  • Serve on the Support Ministry Team.
  • Serve as Secretary at Church Board and Business meetings.
  • Authenticate and share board minutes.
  • Maintain an accurate database of church membership.
  • Keep official membership records up to date.
  • Send a card to members or their families at major life events.
  • Maintain church office.
  • Collect and share announcements with the church.
  • Ensure that all administrative responsibilities, processes, and procedures align with the mission, vision, and values of First University.
